With concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), many families are facing extreme changes in their work and day to day activities. With offices, schools, trips, events and conferences being cancelled worldwide, as families we must take action to stay proactive in times of uncertainty.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.1″ custom_margin=”||-2px|||”]
Here’s a Few “Tidy Tips” for Those Facing ‘Home-Bound’ Work Circumstances:
Set up a temporary work space in your home.
Preferably away from busy areas like the kitchen and living room. A bedroom or large closet can work temporarily. Adding some background music may help you focus, especially if young children are in the home and causing distracting noises.
Keep all your work items and materials in a folder, binder or small bin and stored in a location away from children and food.
Keep it crayon and spilled-milk proof! Use a scanner to store important documents onto your computer and label your folders clearly so you can keep paperwork where it belongs.
Make a list of your top 3 priorities to complete that day.
Be realistic with what you can accomplish that day, especially with a change in your work and home environment. Try to keep your daily schedule as close to the norm as you can and keep to a “time-block” schedule to stay on task and stay productive.
Make a list of items you are able to wait on, until your work and home situation returns to normal.
When you don’t have your easy to access your work computer, tools, and programs, some work agenda items may need to sit on the back-burner for now. Be patient with yourself and certain tasks that will need to wait. With our current circumstances, others will understand.
Lastly, take advantage of the time you have at home.
Play with the kids for a few minutes between tasks. Sit on your back porch for some fresh air. Read a chapter of your favorite book. Enjoy eating lunch as a family. And if you have some extra time, try organizing something simple, like a kitchen drawer or bathroom medicine cabinet… I mean, might as well take some advantage while you’re working from home, right?
